Project Onyx’s 2nd Annual Black Business Marketplace published by Daylon Hicks

Founded in 2018, Project Onyx, Levi Strauss & Co‘s first Black Employee Resource Group (ERG), has always place the importance on Black history and culture. In celebration of Black History Month, they hosted its 2nd Annual Black Business Marketplace, bringing together more than 16 Black-owned vendors for a showcasing entrepreneurship, artistry, and innovation.

The event featured live DJs, curated food experiences, local art, custom cars, interactive activations, and a performance by Rexx Life Raj, creating an immersive environment that honored the importance of Black culture and community.

Beyond a marketplace, the event served as a powerful cultural experience. By intentionally centering Black-owned businesses, creatives, and performers, Project Onyx created a space to celebrate traditions, amplify contemporary voices, and highlight the evolving story of Black excellence. Every element, from music and art to food and fashion, reflected the influence and contributions of Black culture across industries and communities.

Black History Month is not only a time to reflect on history, but also to actively invest in the future. Events like the Black Business Marketplace reinforce the importance of economic empowerment, representation, and cultural preservation. They create opportunities for education, dialogue, and connection while strengthening relationships within LS&Co. and the broader community.

By spotlighting culture in action, supporting entrepreneurs, elevating artists, and fostering shared experiences, Project Onyx continues to build meaningful pathways for visibility, pride, and long-term community impact.
